Second units, and the plumbing that has to be signed off
Brampton registers additional residential units.
Second and third units and garden suites all have to be on the City's register to be legal, and a two-unit registration runs through a change of use building permit at the Building Division. The plumbing is where most of these stall.
A basement bathroom or kitchen normally sits below the invert of the building drain, so it needs a sewage ejector pump in a sealed, vented basin rather than a sump pump. Separate laundry needs a properly sized standpipe and trap.
The job we get called into most often is opening up rough-in that was never inspected, which costs a great deal more than doing it once.
